Description
Been working on this guy for ages, finally finished. Cleaned by Cara/Art, articulated by Kayla/Blue. Unfortunately he was missing some of his toe bones but it's very hard to tell in the finished piece unless you go in looking really close for it.
Anatomy of tortoises and turtles is fascinating, unlike anything I have ever mounted before. Up to this point I've only done mammals, and 1 reptile (a snake) so this is far different then what I am used to. He posed a great amount of challenges and headaches, but ultimately, I'm very happy with the outcome.
This sulcata died of natural causes at a petshop and was by no means killed for taxidermy. It wasn't very old, sadly, it's shell only about 6-7" in length. The skull came apart in many pieces during the cleaning process further proving it wasn't a mature animal.
I've become very addicted to skeleton articulation, its something I very much enjoy!
